Sandra Bergmann

Sandra (Donaldson) Bergmann, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died June 15, 2017 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Sandra was born May 1, 1943 in Ellsworth, Michigan to the late Levi and Beatrice (Smalley) Donaldson.

Sandra grew up in a household of 10 siblings and attended Ellsworth High School. She lived in Charlevoix most of her life. She worked for the Freedman Art Craft Company for eight years, then started a foster care home where more than 225 children were provided a loving environment and nurtured on God's Word.

Sandra was extremely active in her faith and attended Center Point Assembly of God for over 40 years. She developed the "Play Cafe" program at the church to assist underprivileged young moms with a safe place for their children to play. Sandra generously provided thousands of cookies and snacks to the church, her family and anyone in need. Her specialty was molasses cookies.

Sandra is survived by her husband, Lawrence, of 57 years on June 18; children Alan (Cinda) of Lansing, Wayne (Christy) of Peoria, IL, and Melissa (Travis) Ogden of Boyne City; brothers Joel (Lilly), Terry, Ron (Louann) and sister Nancy (Ren) Haley; grandchildren Stephanie, Dylan, Katie, Jordon, Nick (Tiffany), Alexandrea, Drew, Carley, Tyler, Alex, Abby, Cody and Hazel; great-grandchildren, Lilliana, Ahzylei, Warryck, Blaiyzz and Alairyk; sister-in-law Alice Donaldson, brothers-in-law Warren Frank, William (Helen) Stevens and Dermont Poley; many nieces and nephews. Sandra was preceded in death by an infant son Larry, brothers Jackie, Alan, Jimmy and sisters Gwen, Donna and Barb.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Center Point Assembly of God Church in Charlevoix with visitation from 1-2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Moms and Tots program of Good Samaritan Family Services in Ellsworth, Northern Michigan Hospice, or Georgia House.
