Ruth Long

Ruth E. Long, 87, of Bellaire, died Sunday, August 21, 2011, at Hilltop Manor HealthCare in Roscommon. She was born August 2, 1924, in Detroit, the daughter of Rudolph and Emma (Pope) Rahn. On June 23, 1945, in Detroit, she married Clarence Long. In 1979 they moved to Bellaire after many years of living in Westland. Ruth was a member of the Bellaire Lioness Club, and a lifelong member of the Order of Eastern Star. She retired in 2002 from working in the cafeteria at Bellaire Public Schools. Ruth enjoyed spending her time on crafts, especially knitting and crocheting. She is survived by her children Patricia (Earl) Corpe of Roscommon, Gregory (Barbara) Long of Bellaire, daughter in-law Teresa Long of Westland, 6 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband in 1990, son Jeffrey Long in 2009, parents, brother Bert Rahn and sister Esther Sigler. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Carl Litchfield officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until the time of service. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire.
