Ruth I. Jean, 74, of Kalkaska, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2010 at her home surround by her loving family. Ruth was born on October 25, 1935 in Mancelona, the daughter of the late Gurden and Bertha (Webster) Miller. Ruth resided in Blue Lake Township since 1999 and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kalkaska. She is survived by five children, Cyril Jr. (Sharon) Jean of Livonia, Kenneth (Kathleen) Jean of Adrian, Cynthia (Daniel) Oyer of Mancelona, David (Barbara) Jean of Westland, and Randy (Sabrina) Jean of Kalkaska; nine grandchildren, Nichole, Jennifer, Cyril, Neil, Stephanie, Kimberly, Billy, Allen, and Kendra; four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Matthew, Anthony and Mackenzie; three sisters, Phyllis (Jerry) Jackman of Boyne City, Helen (Harry) Gorman of Howell, and Karen (Chuck) Lieberman of Howell; two brothers, Donald (Virginia) Miller of Kalkaska, and James Miller of Bellaire, and several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Cyril Jean in 1999; one son, Steven Jean in 1964; one grandson Steven A. Jean in 1978; parents, Gurden and Bertha Miller; siblings, Emma June Scheerer and Robert Miller. Funeral services will take place at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Home on Thursday, October 21, 2010, at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Ted N. Turanski and Rev. Chad E. Hoover officiating. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of services. Interment will take place on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 12:00 PM at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park in Livonia with Rev. Gary Headapohl officiating.
