Ruth Closser

Ruth Closser, 96, of Lakes of the North, passed away May 27 in Gaylord.  She was born April 16, 1927 in Royal Oak, MI to Ruth (Thomas) and Thomas R. Ashton.  

Ruth spent her early years in Royal Oak, then moved to Lakes of the North in 1999.  She was a real estate agent for many years with “Lakes of the North Real Estate Co.” Ruth also enjoyed sewing, knitting, and gardening. 

She is survived by four children, Diane (Harold) Sparling of Ft. Wayne, IN, Valerie Closser of Lakes of the North, Susan (Steve) Homan of Caro, MI, George Closser Jr. of Lakes of the north, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.  Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George W. Closser, brothers Don, Walt, and Bob Ashton and sisters Irene Ashton and Mildred Schultz. 

A eulogy will be performed Saturday, June 3 at 3:00 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.  Visitation will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.
