Ruth H. Bainum, 82, lifelong resident of Central Lake, died peacefully Tues. Dec. 20, 2011 at Bortz Health Care in Petoskey. She was born Aug. 26, 1929 in Pontiac, the daughter of John and Josephine (Kortanek) Rogers. Ruth enjoyed and was very knowledgeable in vintage clothing from the 1800's, 1900's, 1920's, & 1930's. She was proud to share that enthusiasm and knowledge by festively dressing up for the Central Lake 4th of July parade and also for the Village Centennial. In the 1980's and 1990's she was a proud founder and organizer of the Belle's and Beau's who put on fashion shows throughout the area. On June 6, 1959 she married her second husband, Gene Bainum who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son Richard Ransom, brother Hughey Rogers, and brother in-law Stanley Gibbard. Ruth is survived by her son Walter (Pat) Ransom of Central Lake, daughter Susan (Tom) Wilson of Boyne City, Step-Children Sherry Amaral, Cecil (Skip)(wife Deborah) Bainum, and Andrea (David) Motes all of Florida, brothers Jack Rogers, Francis (Jinks) Rogers and Howard Rogers all of Central Lake, sister Florence Gibbard of Clinton, 9 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
