Russell A. Fillmore, 96 of Bellaire, passed away peacefully Sept. 13, 2016, at Charlevoix Area Hospital. He was born Feb. 27, 1920, in Donaldson, Arkansas, the only child of Russell A and Minnie E. (Presley) Fillmore. Russ moved to Bellaire from Indian River in 1962, and worked at Northern Auto Parts as a manager until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Bellaire Masonic Lodge #398, and Torch Post VFW #6985. He was also a member of the Bellaire Conservation Club, Order of the Eastern Star - Waldo 180, and was a Shriner for many years. Russ proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and Air Force during WWII and the Korean War. In his free time, Russ enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. He also enjoyed watching football and baseball and was an avid reader. Russ cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. On May 24, 1946 he married the love of his life Geraldine "Jean" who preceded him in death in 1990. Also preceding him in death were his grandson Matthew, his son Kenneth, his son in law Bill, and his parents. Surviving are his children Jan (George) Comben of Topinabee, Russ "Butch" of Bellaire, Judy Lee of Bellaire, Debbie (Bob) Pecar of East Jordan, Kathy (Dave) Moore of Alden, daughter in law Pam Fillmore of Zuni, VA, 18 grandchildren, and many great and great-great grandchildren. A Masonic Service will be held Fri. Sept. 16, at 7 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until the time of service. A private family graveside service will be held in Eldred Cemetery. In lieu memorial contributions may be given to the Bellaire Mason's, Bellaire Fire Department, Hospice of Michigan, or Charlevoix Area Hospital.
