RUSSELL B. BLASDELL, 84, of Bellaire, died on March 21, 2010 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. Russ was born on March 8, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Ivan and Carrie (Pendock) Blasdell. Russ married Vivian Holm on March 19, 1949. He is survived by his wife Vivian of 61 years. Together they had four children, Diana Blasdell of Bellaire, Byron (Pat) Blasdell of Charlevoix, Sharon Dow of Bellaire, Ann (Scott) Miller of Boyne City. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, and a sister-in-law Ruth Abbott of Bellaire. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Gordon Vernell Blasdell and infant brother. He also leaves behind many valued friends. Russ served in the U.S. Army as an M.P. at the end of World War II. After the war he trained to be a horsetrainer which he did for 50 years. He is also remembered for having driven school bus for Bellaire Public Schools. He was a member of the Bellaire Masonic Lodge. He was President Emeritus and past president for many years of the Bellaire Conservation Club of which the highlight each year was helping kids at Kids Fish Day at Meadowbrook. He also served as president of Friends of the Cedar River for the past 12 years and was involved with the Antrim County Parks and Planning. His other interests were the outdoors, hunting, fishing and reading. At his request, no services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Diana Blasdell, c/o Alden State Bank, P.O. Box 1169, Bellaire, MI., 49615. Donations will go to the kids for hunters safety. Cremation arrangements are being handled by the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
