Ruby Geraldine Shooks, born Ruby Geraldine Newland, age 93, died on
Friday June 14th 2013.

(Franessa) Shooks (Ellsworth,MI); fourteen grandchildren and
twenty-four great grandchildren.
Ruby was born October 6th, 1919 in Detroit, MI as one of 10 children.
She lived in the Detroit area until she was married but her family
spent summers in northern Michigan in Central Lake where she met her
future husband Wesley Shooks.
Wes and Ruby were married October 11th, 1942 during a weekend pass
while he was in the US Army. They made their home in Ellsworth in 1946
where they would spend the rest of their lives. Ruby was preceded in
death by her loving husband Wesley in 1996
Her interests included her rock gardens and landscaping. She loved
shopping the various sales and never came home empty handed. She
generously handed off these treasures to others. She was also an
excellent cook.
In 1969 Ruby dedicated her life to serving God as one of Jehovah's
Witnesses. She held dear the Bible's promise that soon God will
fulfill his original purpose for the earth and that those asleep in
death will be resurrected(Psalm 37:10,11, 29; Revelation 21:4). As a
woman who loved the beauty of nature and lamented the loss of her
eyesight she looked forward to the time when her own health would be
restored and she could have a full share in restoring the earth to its
original beauty. Her faith remained strong to the very end.
She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
No services are planned at this time. The family was served by Hastings Funeral Home in Ellsworth www.hastingsfuneral.com
