R T Paullin, age 77, of Houghton Lake, died October 13, 2012 at his home. RT was born March 7, 1935 in Mt. Pleasant to Wyman and Bernadine (Eisman) Paullin. He was married in Flint, August 25, 1956 to the former Patricia Williams. RT was raised in Mt. Pleasant and attended Central Michigan University. In 1957 he graduated from Wayne State University School of Mortuary Science. He was a licensed funeral director for over 50 years. In 1968 he established the Paullin Funeral Home in Mancelona and later he opened the Paullin Funeral Home in East Jordan. He served the community until 1995, when he retired and moved to Houghton Lake. He was a life member and past master of the Wabon Lodge #305 F&AM in Mt Pleasant. He was a member and past president of the Mancelona/Bellaire Rotary Club and served in all offices. He was past president of the Mancelona School Board and served in all offices. RT was very proud of his profession and was involved in all aspects of the Michigan Funeral Directors Association, serving in all offices and as past president. He was a member of the Houghton Lake United Methodist Church and served on the Finance Committee and also served on the Houghton Lake Improvement Board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf and tennis and most of all loved his time spent with family. RT is survived by his wife Patricia, three daughters; Cathryn (Don) Drury of Grand Rapids, Linda (Thomas) Paullin-Hebden of Farmington Hills, Cynthia (Scott) Fountain of Encinitas, California, and a son RT III (Shari Kennett) Paullin of Freeland. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Matthew and Taylor Drury, Bradford and Travis Hebden, and Emily and Elizabeth Fountain, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and also by a brother Daniel Paullin in 2007. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the Houghton Lake United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Anderson officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 17, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at the Houghton Lake United Methodist Church and also Thursday, beginning at 10:00 a.m., until the time of service. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Houghton Lake United Methodist Church, designated to the Preschool, 7059 W.
