Rose A. Denemy, 93, of East Jordan, passed away on May 23, 2019 at Grandvue Medical Care Facility.
Rose was born on April 10, 1926, the daughter of Alex and Esther (Wasagesic) Cornstalk.
Rose was born on High Island, MI. At age 7, she was removed from her home to attend a boarding school in Harbor Springs. Then at age 14 she got out and moved downstate to raise her family in South Haven, MI. Following her years downstate she moved back up north to the East Jordan area in the mid 80’s until her passing.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and watching movies. She was proud of her Native American heritage and was a member of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians.
She is survived by a daughter, Darlene Guthrie of East Jordan, 3 sisters, Alvina (Melvin) Napont, Helen Paul, and Irene (Mike) Mitchell all of East Jordan, 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband Nelson Denemy, 3 children, John, Larry and Crab Denemy, 4 brothers, Tom, Jr., Harvey, Frank, and a sister Louise as well as one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, May 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Pastor Jonathan Mays will officiate. Visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
