Rose Josephine (Greene) Connaghan, 94, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2020, at The Villa in Petoskey, Mich. Rose was born on Beaver Island, Mich., on January 28, 1926, the daughter of Anthony and Mary (Boyle) Greene.

Rose spent most of her life on Beaver Island, where she was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. She served as Peaine Township Treasurer for 45 years and as a rural route mail carrier for 29 years. She welcomed many visitors to her home on Kings Highway over the years.

Rose is survived by her children, Eddie of Beaver Island, Tony (Ann) of Beaver Island, Steve of Beaver Island and Gerald (Mary Lou) of Kentwood; her grandchildren Tony (Angie), Joe, Sean (Janelle), Gus (Shaniese), McCauley, Megan (Daniel), Tim (Katie), and Kathleen (Hunter); her five great-grandchildren, Noah, Ivy, Hans, Ronan, and Scarlett; and her sister Lill Left.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Dan, Anthony, Hubert, Russell and Peter, and her sisters Bernell, Frances and Mary Margaret.

The family would like to thank the many people who helped Rose in her final years, including the caring staff at The Villa, her sister Lill Left and her niece Kathleen Dvoracek.

A memorial mass will take place at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Beaver Island with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.  A rosary will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at 6:00 PM, also at Holy Cross Catholic Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Cross Altar Society of Beaver Island.
