Ronald McKinnon

Ronald W. McKinnon, 77, of Traverse City, passed away on August 15, 2013 at Tendercare Birchwood of Traverse City. Ron was born on December 6, 1935, in Grosse Pointe Farms, MI., the son of William and Marion (Castator) McKinnon. Ron served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He served on the Planning Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals for several years in Chesterfield Township. He enjoyed boating, swimming, fishing and reading. He was preceded in death on March 31, 2013 by his loving wife of 52 years Ruth Ann McKinnon. Also preceding him in death were his parents. Surviving are 3 children, Kim (Guy Sr.) Foss, Kevin (Kari) McKinnon, and Margaret Holden. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Guy Foss Jr., Andrew (Theresa) Foss, Brandon Legendre, Krystal Legendre, Garrett Foss, Joshua (Cassie) Holden, Shelby (Matthew) Nightingale, Sahra McKinnon, Megan McKinnon, Noah McKinnon, 6 great-grandchildren, Cali Chance Foss, Emma Lee Ruth Holden, Bentley Holden, Alora Nicole Foss, Zane William Holden and Faya Jane Foss. Private services will take place with the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
