Ronald E. Harrison, 74, of Central Lake, went to be with his savior on April 24, 2014 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility.

Ron was born on August 7, 1939 in Detroit, the son of Gordon "Willie" and Thelma (Martindale) Harrison.

Ron was a lifelong resident of Central Lake where he graduated from Central Lake Public Schools in 1957, and was employed as a custodian for the Central Lake Public Schools for many years. He was also a life member of the Central Lake V.F.W. Torch Post #6985.

Ron gave 20 years of service to his country in the U.S. Army, and served in the Vietnam War.

He enjoyed bowling, traveling, camping and spending time with his grandchildren.

On August 25, 1979, in East Jordan, he married Shirley Olmstead who survives. Also surviving are 4 sons, Michael (Velma) Harrison of Marietta, GA, Edward (Annette) Harrison of Kingsley, Ronald Harrison of Marietta, GA, Adrian (Brenda) Harrison of Traverse City, a sister Alice (Arvin) Dawson of Central Lake, 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son Stephan Harrison, a brother David Wayne Harrison and his parents.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, April 29 at 11:00 a.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Pastor Jim Jordan will officiate.

Interment with military honors will follow in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake Township.

Visitation will be on Monday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. also at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
