Ronald Dean Crandall, 67, of Charlevoix, died Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at home. He was born June 11, 1948, in Saginaw, to Earl and Esme (Blohm) Crandall, and grew up in Charlevoix. Ron served in the US Navy for eight years during the Vietnam War, specializing as a jet airplane mechanic.

Following his military service, he worked as a mechanic at Detroit Diesel. He lived in Plymouth and spent his winters in Florida. He lived in Haslett for ten years to care for his mother.

Ron was an avid Spartan and Tigers fan, and loved riding motorcycles.

He is survived by his daughter, Kellye Jo (Kevin) Shaw, and son, Ronald D. (Chrissy) Crandall, Jr.; grandchildren, Mitchell Hendrics, and Kylie Crandall; brother, Scott (Jeri) Crandall of Cleveland, Tex.; sister, Deborah (Gary) Crandall Stutzman of Charlevoix; nephews, Earl Crandall, John Lopez, Brad Lopez; niece, Heather Nelson. He is also survived by his former wife, Bonnie Higbee, and life-long friend, Tete Drost.

A private service is planned for a later date.
