Roger Winslow

Roger Wilco Winslow, father of Dr. Andrew Winslow, passed away on December 1 at his home. Roger was a kind, intelligent man, an avid outdoorsman, and a wonderful friend to so many people. In Roger's 60 years of life, his proudest accomplishment was his son. His second proudest moments came from his years of service in the Navy and being a member of AMVETS Post 114 Honor Guard. Roger welcomed many fallen Michigan servicemen to their final resting place. Now, they will honor and accompany Roger to his final resting place. God speed and may you rest in eternal peace. Besides his son Dr. Andrew Winslow and daughter-in-law Megan (Strait), Roger leaves behind siblings Richard (Kathleen) Winslow, Mel'O'Dea Ramon, Dee Dee Roman, Wynne Winslow, Summer (Lowell) Parson and many nieces and nephews who will never forget their wonderful Uncle Roger. Roger also leaves behind his friend and mother to his son Brenda (Paul) Smaston and the Redfield family, his special friend and companion Carol Sobbry and her family, and his beloved furry friends Ringer, Kitten, and Tiny. A funeral will be held Saturday, December 6 at 12 noon at Calvary Lutheran Church, Elk Lake Rd at US 31 Elk Rapids, with Pastor Mellor presiding. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. -12 noon. Lunch will be served afterwards by his friends at the AMVETS. Memorial contributions can be directed to AMVETS Post 114. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mortensen Funeral Home.
