Roderick Childers

Roderick Dale Childers, 53, of Ortonville, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Genesys Health Park, in Grand Blanc. He was born August 13, 1955, the son of Russel and Marguerite (Deaton) Childers, in Goodrich. Rod spent his entire life in Ortonville. He worked for GM in Lake Orion for 33 years before retiring in April. Rod loved to spend time with his family. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed riding dirt bikes. On February 13, 1987 in Waterford, he married Cynthia James who survives. Also surviving are his children Autumn, Samantha and Zachary Childers all of Ortonville, stepson Brandon James of Waterford, brothers Danny (Sandra) Childers of Amasa, and Dick (Sharon) Childers of Fairview, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters Glenda Simonson, Sandy Patterson, 2 infant sisters Della Rae Childers and Patricia Childers. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Twelve Noon, at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Todd Childers officiating. Interment will follow in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake. The family will receive friends Friday, July 31, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. also at the funeral home.
