Robert William Feldhouse, 73, of Charlevoix and Rochester Hills, Michigan, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2019 at his home in Charlevoix.
Bob was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 21, 1946, to William and Beatrice (Graneman) Feldhouse, and spent his childhood in Detroit and Milford, Michigan. He attended the University of Michigan prior to being drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War where he served as a helicopter medic and was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
Over his 40-year professional career, Bob sold construction materials now installed on commercial projects throughout the Midwest. He proudly owned two companies, EntryTech Associates and R.W. Feldhouse and Company, and was passionate and enthusiastic about his work, taking particular pride in his role in the rebuilding of Detroit.
Bob had a real curiosity about life and was always willing to discuss or debate just about any subject. He loved to travel; camping in nearly every National Park; travelling abroad with friends and cruising the Caribbean to his favorite destinations. A gifted athlete in his youth, Bob enjoyed skiing and playing tennis, baseball and golf and he was a true fan of all sports. He loved animals, particularly horses, dogs and cats. His taste in music was broad – everything from Tower of Power to Andrea Bocelli – as was his interest in current affairs.
On December 4, 1976, in Detroit, Bob married Lynn A. Cehanowicz, who survives him. Also surviving Bob is their daughter, Katherine A. Feldhouse, his brother- and sister-in-law, Daniel (Barbara) Cehanowicz, and their children, Marla (Michael) Wiacek, Craig (Kristie) Cehanowicz, and Lisa (Patrick) Anthony. Bob’s parents, his sister, Beverly A. Feldhouse, and his aunt, Esther Pershack, preceded him in death.
A reception for family, friends and colleagues honoring Bob’s memory will be held at the Detroit Yacht Club on Detroit’s Belle Isle, Saturday, November 2, 2019, from 11 am to 2 pm. Kindly RSVP to kfeldhouse@gmail.com or 323-793-8252 on or before October 22.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob’s memory may be made to the American Red Cross, the Nature Conservancy or an animal shelter of your choice.
Arrangements have been handled by the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Please sign Bob’s online guestbook at www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com
