Robert Wise, Jr.

On October 16, 2017 Robert L. Wise Jr. (75) of Charlevoix passed away peacefully at his home. Bob was born on September 23, 1942 in Pittsburg PA, the only child of Robert and Caroline Wise.
Bob graduated high school from St. Francis high school (Sharpsburg, PA) in 1961. He served in the US Coast Guard from 1963-1967 on the Great Lakes and then to Sand Island Hawaii where he was on a search and recover ship patrolling in the Pacific Ocean going to Japan, Australia and into enemy waters in Vietnam. He received the Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Metal.
On September 17, 1964 Bob married Maryann Suzette Smith (Susie), of Charlevoix. Bob is survived by his wife Susie of 53 years, two sons Robert L. (Doreen) Wise III and James Franklyn (Heather) Wise. His seven grandchildren, Ashley, Hannah, Christopher, Samuel, Robert, Elizabeth, Richard and one great granddaughter Nevaeh.
Bob acquired his pilot's license and was a member of the Charlevoix Flying Club. He enjoyed flying so much as he owed his own plane. Bob was a Charlevoix County Chairman of the Republican Party and Financial Chairman receiving an award from Governor Milligan in Lansing Michigan.
After having a successful window cleaning & floor care business for 13 years. His love of sweets drove him to Geneva on the Lake Ohio where his family use to vacation when he was a child to open a new business. Jerry Murdick shared some of his trade secrets and inspired Bob to open two Wise's fudge in Ohio.
Bob's greatest love was for the Masonic brotherhood. He was a 33rd degree and past master and received his life time pin after forty years of participation.
There will be a viewing at 10:00 a.m. and a graveside memorial at 11:00 a.m. on October 19, 2017 at the Ellsworth Cemetery - 9886 Eaton Road Ellsworth, MI 49729.
