Robert F. Ross, 92, of Central Lake, died Monday, December 08, 2008 at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center, Long Term Care surrounded by his family. He was born May 31, 1916, in Grand Rapids, the son of Bert and Mable (Millard) Ross. On September 16, 1939 in Grand Rapids, he married Martha Jane Roat. Bob spent many years of his life working for Michigan Bell in Grand Rapids and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He also served on the Northview School Board for over 25 years. Upon retirement in 1980, Bob and Martha moved to Central Lake. Bob continued to stay involved and was an active member of the Central Lake Lions Club and the First Congregational Church of Central Lake. Bob is survived by his wife of 69 years, Marty, his three children Julie Anne Ross of Atlanta, GA, Thomas Richard (Vickie) Ross of Alden, Dan Robert (Jan) Ross of Portage, seven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, brother Richard Ross of Grand Rapids, sister Lois (Jack) Morse of Kalamazoo, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 12th at Two p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Central Lake with Pastor David Wood officiating. The family will receive friends from Noon until the time of service. Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 20th at Noon at Fairplain Cemetery in Grand Rapids with a gathering to follow at Northlawn United Methodist Church of Grand Rapids, 1157 Northlawn, corner of Fuller and Northlawn, from One to Three p.m. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Central Lake Lions Club, Central Lake District Library or the First Congregational Church of Central Lake.
