Robert S. Rarey, 93 of Central Lake, died peacefully, Aug. 22, 2014, at Cherry Hill Haven of Kalkaska. He was born Oct. 26, 1920, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Russell and Mayme (Rager) Rarey. Robert graduated from Ohio State University and received his Master's degree in Engineering from Chrysler Institute. He was a Chrysler Engineer for 38 years and chief engineer when the "Hemi" was produced. Robert enjoyed golf, sailing, and boating. He was a wood carver and water color artist. On July 15, 1944, in Royal Oak, he married Barbara Lee who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his parents and his brother Charles Rarey. Surviving are his daughters Lee Ann (Leonard) Carleton of Bloomfield Hills, and Nancy E. (Dennis) Richardson of Central Lake; grandchildren Robert (Lisa) Carleton, Carolyn (Arty) Leo, and Matt (Lisa) Brown; 5 great grandchildren; and brother John (Ann) Rarey of Columbus, OH.
