Robert Petrie

Robert L. Petrie, 87, of Bellaire, formerly of Echo Township, passed away on May 28, 2014 at his home. Bob was born on June 29, 1926 in Echo Township the son of Robert B. and Sadie (Swain) Petrie. Bob grew up in Echo Township and graduated from East Jordan High School in 1944. Following graduation he entered the United States Navy and served during World War II. He was a life member of the Central Lake VFW Torch Post # 6985 as well as member of the Bellaire and Lansing American Legion. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling, golfing, horseshoes and baseball. He is survived by 3 children, Robert Richard Petrie of Florida, Sadie Lou (Bill) Wicks of Echo Township, Terry (Anita Pentecost) Petrie of Echo Township, 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Clara "Caroline" Petrie, second wife Jean Thomas-Petrie, a brother Dick Petrie, sister Pat Petrie and his parents. Memorial services will take place on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Pastor David Ramage will officiate. Interment will be in Dunsmore Cemetery, Echo Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the Antrim County Commission on Aging or to the Central Lake VFW Torch Post #6985.
