Following graduation he worked at the Packard Motor Company, enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1943 and served with the 318th Fighter Squadron as a Staff Sergeant in the Pacific theater. Many of the boulders in yards and entrance roads in the Bellaire area were delivered by Bob to his many friends. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Anndy (Lee) Whipple of Bellaire and Betty (Wandell) Carlton of Union, Kentucky, three grand children, Dr. Michelle (Mark) Kundmueller, Robin (Stephany) Whipple, Michael Carlton, three great grandchildren, Matthew, Margaret, and Caroline Kundmueller, five siblings, Marjorie (Dick) Ruppenthal, Pepper (Jim) Van Houten, Jo Parker, Suzie (Dolph) Ottgen, Cathie (Norman) McAtee, sister-in-law Ellie Lessard, and many nieces and nephews.
