Robert E. Hoeksema
Robert E. Hoeksema, 69, of Kalkaska, died Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
He was born May 3, 1944 in Banks Township to Gerrit and Henrietta (Potter) Hoeksema.
Bob worked at the East Jordan Iron Works throughout his working years. He lived in East Jordan and Charlevoix before moving to Kalkaska. He enjoyed hunting and doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
Surviving are his children Cindy (Jeff) McCallum of Elk Rapids, Linda Shafer of East Jordan, Robert (Krista) Hoeksema of Kalamazoo, and William Hoeksema of Traverse City; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings Geraldine (Henry) Schriever of Cedar Springs, James Hoeksema of LaFontaine, IN, Nancy VanDyke of Grant, Gary (Beverly) Hoeksema of East Jordan, John (Maria) Hoeksema of Alden, Marvin (Judy) Hoeksema of Ellsworth, Vern (Virginia) Hoeksema of Central Lake, Wesley (Cindy) Hoeksema of Bellaire, Evelyn (Tom) Knape of Centerville, OH, Fred (Candace) Hoeksema of Atwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerrit and Hattie Hoeksema, former wife, Lila Sineway Hoeksema, and his late wife Jean Barraw Hoeksema.
Friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home in Ellsworth on Sunday, September 8, from 4 to 7 p.m.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, September 9, at the Ellsworth Christian Reformed Church with the Rev. Alex D. Snider officiating. Burial will be in Atwood Cemetery.
