Robert Geer Sr.

Bob Geer Sr., 84, passed away suddenly at his home in Charlevoix on Tuesday, February 28. He was preceded in death by his parents Art and Evelyn Geer and his siblings, sister Joann Geer and brother Terry Geer. Bob attended Charlevoix High School, graduating in 1957.

Bob leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Sally Geer and his children, son Bobby (Hawk) Geer and son Alan (Hondo) Geer (Jessica), grandchildren Tanner Geer (Desaray) and Sara McClanathan; and great grandchildren Kamden Geer and Reva Geer. He is also survived by his sister Artis Galnares (John) and many loving family and friends.

Bob served his country both in the U. S. Army and U. S. Army Reserve.

He worked at American Mold and Medusa Cement (presently St. Mary's Cement) for many years, from which he retired. During his working years, he volunteered with the Charlevoix Fire Department.

After he retired, he enjoyed working in his garage, "fixing" and creating with his friend Al. Bob had a passion for drag racing, which he enjoyed with his sons. He's known for his friendly "wave" on his walks and drives, and the local "four-leggeds" watched for him and the treats he always offered when he walked by.

Bob's commitment to friends and family made him an icon in Charlevoix. He enjoyed fishing and hunting for many years. He loved and almost never missed sporting events at Charlevoix High School. He was a huge fan.

Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Everyone knew he'd almost be first in line to help. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Athletic Department of Charlevoix High School.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Details will be announced as they are made available.

Arrangments are in the care of the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.  Please sign his online guestbook at www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com
