Robert Dean, 63, of Bellaire, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2010, at his home following a long and courageous battle with heart and lung disease. Born August 27, 1946, Bob was the son of the late Guy and Edith Dean. He grew up in Alden, graduated from Mancelona High School in 1964 and moved to Bellaire in 1965. He was a residential contractor in the area for many years and recently owned and operated North Country Boat Works, a boat maintenance and shrink-wrap business. He was an avid golfer spending most of his time on the golf course or cruising down Lake Bellaire on his pontoon boat. He was deeply committed to his work and loved to socialize with his many clients and friends. His most passionate and enjoyable time in his later years was spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loving father, devoted grandfather and deeply caring husband. He will be missed greatly by his family and everyone who knew him. Bob is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Apfel, whom he married on September 11, 1965; three children Bradley (Kendra), Michael (Denyce) and Timothy (Sherri); 8 grandchildren, Vincent (The Vinmister) and Zach (Zachariah) Piscopo, his one and only princess Emily, and 5 little boneheads Joshua, Jacob, Brandon, Logan, and Alex, 3 siblings Guy Dean, Douglas Dean and Lori Folks, also many very special nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws. He was preceded in death by his father, Guy; mother Edith; and a brother, Jeff Dean. A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
