Robert “Bob” Hybl of Charlevoix passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at the age of 83 with his beloved family at his side. He was born on May 31, 1938 in Detroit, MI, the son of Walter and Caroline (Babinski) Hybl. Bob and his family moved from the Detroit area to Northern Michigan in 1974.
He was a licensed builder, constructing and crafting many beautiful homes on the shores of Torch Lake and in the surrounding area. Bob was also an extremely talented artist which shone through in not only his construction, but also in the many signs he designed and created for local businesses as well as homeowners. You could also find him lettering boats throughout Charlevoix and Central Lake – he was known for his attention to detail and immaculate perfectionism.
Bob loved, built, and owned classic cars; over the years, he owned and built a ’55 Chevrolet (his “Turtle”), a ’57 T-Bird, a ’62 Corvette, and a ’52 Ford truck, among others. He always enjoyed visiting and spending time with his best friend, Mitch. He also enjoyed golfing, playing tennis, bowling, hunting, fishing, gardening, and most importantly, spending time with his family. Nothing made him happier than attending his grandchildren’s athletic events.
Bob is survived by his loving wife and high school sweetheart, Evelyn (Orto) Hybl; his four children, Kari Lynn (Todd) Morningstar, Kathleen Anne Kuhtic, Koni Marie Hybl, and Robert Charles Jr. (Molly) Hybl; six grandchildren, Collin Kuhtic, Samantha Kuhtic, Hannah (Doug) Hybl-Reynolds, Katherine (Anthony) Lesko, Adam Hybl, and Erin Hybl; one great grandson Joshua Reynold; sister, Irene (John) Cook; and two brothers, Roy Hybl and James Hybl. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bob’s family has chosen to celebrate his life privately.
