Richard John Wynkoop, 78, of Charlevoix, passed away Friday, June 26, 2015, at his home. He was born March 29, 1937, in Shelvin, Minn. to Chellas and Helen (Bauman) Wynkoop. In 1950, Dick moved to Port Huron and in 1954 was welter weight champion of the Blue Water Golden Gloves. On April 7, 1955, he married Sally D. Minor in Port Huron. Dick was the General Foreman for Prestolite in Port Huron for twenty-seven years. In 1985, he and Sally moved to Charlevoix where he and his brother owned and operated Wynkoop's Auto Body. He loved to hunt and fish. On his last day he went fishing and caught seven fish. Sally preceded Dick in death on January 28, 2015. He is survived by his children, Ricky L. Wynkoop, Vicki Lynn (Ronnie) McWatters all of Charlevoix, Jeffrey Scott (Cheryll) Wynkoop of Kewadin, Andrew John Wynkoop of Charlevoix; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Victor (Karen) Wynkoop of West Branch; sister, Rosalie Graham of Port Huron. Dick was also preceded in death by his son, Wayne; grandson, Jeremy Moses; brother, Cecil; son-in-law, Terry Moses; and his parents. A memorial service will be 11 am, Monday, July 6, at the First Baptist Church in Charlevoix. The Reverend David Behling will officiate. Interment will take place in the Norwood Cemetery.
