Richard A. Wells, 82, of Ellsworth, died Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Boulder Park Terrace in Charlevoix.
He was born March 18, 1934 in Charlevoix to Wilbur and Beatrice (Samuels) Wells.
On November 30, 1974 he married Else Cooper in Petoskey. They lived in Ellsworth. Elsie died in 2010.
Richard was a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, collecting guns and loved his dog Rusty.
Surviving are his children Richard (Tonia) Wells Jr. of Charlevoix, Gail (Brad) Black of Croswell, Dan Wells of McHenry, IL; step-children Rosa Sanders of Echterdingen, Germany, Evelyn Loy of Charlevoix, Dave (Connie) Cooper of Traverse City, Joseph (Debbie) Cooper of Charlevoix, Tom Cooper and friend Tammy of Ellsworth, Rosie (Terry) Clark of East Jordan; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Lura) Wells of Charlevoix; sisters Marilyn (William) Pardee of Charlevoix, Peggy (Bob) Marrow of New Mexico, Deloris Hart of Saginaw. He was preceded in death by a grandson Zachary Cooper, great-granddaughter Aubrey Cooper, brothers Wilbur Wells and John Wells.
A visitation will be held on from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Hastings Funeral Home in Ellsworth. In keeping with his wishes there will be no funeral. Burial will be in Ellsworth Cemetery.
