Richard Scheitler Sr.

Richard R. Scheitler Sr., of Rapid City, passed away peacefully surrounded by his entire family, on February 22, 2020 at his home.

Rich was born on March 21, 1938, in Chicago, IL, the son of Kurt and Theresa (Ebert) Scheitler.

Rich was a resident of Rapid City since 2003, when they decided to move here from Illinois to retire.  Rich enjoyed fishing, woodworking, remote control airplanes and was known as the best “story teller” around.

His biggest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

On January 26, 1957, in Maywood, IL, he married Joyce L. Evans who survives.  Also surviving are 4 children, Gary (Jill M.) Scheitler of Rapid City, Greg (Deb) Scheitler of Oroville, CA, Rich Jr. (Jill E.) Scheitler of Central Lake, Julie Scheitler of Asheville, NC, a brother Ronald (Barb) Scheitler of Tomah, WI, sister-in-law Donna Jean Evans of Maywood, IL, 6 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Edward Robert Scheitler.

A celebration of his life will take place at a later date.
