Richard Renn

Richard Anthony Renn, 80, of Williamsburg, died Saturday, April 4, 2015, in Clovis, Calif., while visiting his brother. He was born July 23, 1934, in Louisville, Ky., the son of George Marcus and Mildred Estelle (Provost) Renn. He graduated from Redford Union High School in Detroit, Michigan. Richard served in the US Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Phillipines Sea during the Korean War. On May 26, 1956, he married Joyce Lenore Bacon and she preceded him in death in 2003. Richard was employed for 30 years by Michigan Bell Telephone and Ameritech, retiring in 1991 as a Fiber Optics Supervisor. He also worked as a green's keeper for the Grand Traverse resort for a number of years. He has lived in Williamsburg the past 35 years. Richard enjoyed playing baseball, hunting, fishing, bowling and golfing. He was a member of the American Legion and a Life Member of the NRA. He is survived by his daughters, Julie Anne (Patrick V.) Whitley, Rebecca Marie (Christopher J.) Wimmer all of Charlevoix, Amy Elizabeth (Richard) Scott of Mancelona; grandchildren, Jessi (Aaron) Blaszczyk, Luke Whitley, Jacob, Nicholas, and Ryan Wimmer, Kyle (Kayla) Scott, Kolten Scott; great-grandson, Sawyer Blaszczyk; brother, George (Florence) Renn of Fresno, Calif. A memorial mass will be 2 pm, Friday, May 8, at Saint Mary's Church in Charlevoix. The Reverend Matthew Wigton will officiate. Interment will take place in the Acme Township Cemetery.
