Richard Raymond Poirot, 63, of Charlevoix, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015, at his home. He was born January 31, 1952, in Hartford, Conn. To James Francis and Dorothy (Staples) Poirot. He grew up in Hartford and attended Emerson College in Boston.
On September 3, 1977, he married Kathleen R. Schultz in Farmington Hills. They made their home in northern Michigan in 1986.
Richard worked as a service writer for car dealerships, and at Petoskey Plastics for several years.
He was active in the Boy Scouts of America, and was Leader of Troop 53, Boyne Falls. He also served as a commissioner for the Northern Trails District of the BSA.
Richard is survived by his wife, Kathleen R. of Petoskey; daughters, Heather K. (Matthew) Seaman of Charlevoix, Elizabeth (Russell) Hickman of Fayetteville, NC, Christine (David Verville) Poirot of Atlanta, Mich.; son, Kenneth Poirot of Petoskey; grandchildren, Austin, Dylan, Samantha, Savanna, Connor, Colton, Riley; brothers, Stephen (Mary) Poirot, and Thomas Poirot all of Connecticut. Richard's parents, James and Dorothy; and brothers, Jim and Bill preceded him in death.
Memorial service will be 1 pm, Friday, October 30, at the Community Reformed Church in Charlevoix, where visitation will begin at noon.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Safe Haven Breakfast Club, c/o Community Reformed Church, 100 Oak Street, Charlevoix, MI 49720; or to the Boy Scouts of America Troop 53, Boyne Falls.
