Richard L. "Dick" Lucas, Sr., 77, of Mancelona passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Aspen Ridge in Gaylord.
Richard was born on July 18, 1933 in Traverse City, MI., the son of Harrison and Virginia Lucas.
Richard proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a lifelong resident of Mancelona. He was involved in the law enforcement in Mancelona and Antrim County for many years. For decades he was involved in the Chain of Lakes Little League; awarded the 20, 30 and 40th year recognition of service from the Michigan High School Athletic Association and also a member of the Lions Club.
He is survived by three sons, Richard (Audrey) Lucas Jr. of Boulder, WY., Bruce (Annette) Lucas of Mt. Pleasant, MI., and Thomas (Cheryl) Lucas of Highland, MI; three grandchildren, Megan, Amy and Thomas Lucas Jr; one brother, two sisters and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2003, Susanne Lucas.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 14, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m. also at the funeral home. The burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Mancelona in the summer.
