Richard Laney

Richard Charles Laney of Bellaire, Michigan passed away Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan. Richard "Dick" Laney was born October 23, 1923 in Little Falls, Minnesota. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, Dick pursued a long distinguished career as a real estate broker.

Dick married Rose Gackle August 8th 1970 in Ventura California. They lived in Ventura, California for a number of years until moving to Bellaire, Michigan and they also spent a number of winters in Leesburg Florida.

Dick's love of golf was immeasurable, there were many rounds played in many states. Dick was a very avid sportsman who also enjoyed hunting in Michigan and North Dakota.

Dick is survived by sons Thomas Laney, Robert Laney, and daughter Linda Kandal, grandchildren Kristi, Lisa, Tom, Tina, Todd, and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wed. Jan. 25, 2012, at 3 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor David Ramage officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Helena Twp. Cemetery, Alden, in the spring.
