Richard Johnston

Richard Allen Johnston 67 of Traverse City died March 20, 2021 at Munson Medical Center.  He was born July 10, 1953 in Bellaire the son of Alvin and Gertrude (Stenke) Johnston.

Richard graduated from Traverse City High School in 1972 and played football for the Trojans.  He was proud to be a part of the state championship football teams all four years.  Richard was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He especially enjoyed deer hunting along with hunting turkey and duck. He also liked spending the afternoons fishing.

Surviving is his half-brother Jim (Lorraine) Curmi, many nieces and nephews, and several close friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

He will be interred at Lakeview Cemetery in Bellaire next to his mother this spring.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 10th, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Bayview Wesleyan Church, Traverse City with Pastor Jack Steenbergh officiating.  A luncheon will follow.
