Richard George Fogo, 70, of Bellaire, formerly of Troy, MI, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2010 at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center, after a 12-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

He was born on March 21, 1940 in Highland Park, MI to Robert and Gladys Fogo and grew up in Royal Oak. Richard graduated from Dondero High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. From 1958 to 1962, he proudly served in Okinawa, the Philippines and other overseas bases.

On May 4, 1963, he married Beverly Grace Charlesworth in Royal Oak. Together they had five children: Jeffrey (Sue) Fogo of Traverse City, Jennifer (Dan) Byce of East Jordan, Marc (Amy) of Bellaire, Matthew (Sue) of Boyne City and Patrick (Mary) of Troy.

He was an accomplished businessman and entrepreneur. He retired in 2000, from Ziebart International, as a franchise development manager. He loved spending time with family and friends at their lake house. He enjoyed doing research on the family genealogy and watching his favorite sports teams on TV or being a spectator at his grandchildren's sporting events.

He is survived by his five children and eleven grandchildren, brother Neil (Carol) of Indiana, a sister-in-law Virginia (Herb) O'Brien of Berkley, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, of 46 years, his parents, and his in-laws, Donald and Dorothy Charlesworth.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society of Michigan, 21311 Civic Center Drive, Southfield, MI, 48076-3911.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Church in the Hills, Bellaire, at 10:00am, with Pastor Andrew Pomerville officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, December 27, from 4-8pm, at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
