Richard Crowe, 94 of NE Torch Lake Dr., Central Lake, died Sat. Jan. 10, 2015 at Boulder Park Terrace, Charlevoix.
He was an avid sailor and sailed in 14 Chicago to Mackinaw races, and 2 Detroit to Mackinaw races. He also enjoyed playing golf.
Richard graduated from Central High School, Grand Rapids in 1939, earned his degree from Yale University and proudly served in the US Army during World War II. He was a sales rep for many years of automotive parts and was co-owner of Plastics-Plate in Grand Rapids. A member of St. Mark Episcopal Church, the American Legion, the Elks Club, and Blythefield Country Club, Richard was very active in the Grand Rapids community. After many wonderful years in Grand Rapids, he moved to his summer house on Torch Lake in northern Michigan in 1986.
Suviving Richard is his companion of over 20 years, Ann Reitmeyer, his son Robert Crowe of Scottsdale, AZ and daughter Caren (Jeffrey) Grieve of Tuscon, AZ, 2 grandchildren Perry and Genevieve Engelbert of AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Charles W. Crowe.
No services are planned at this time. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Torch Lake Twp. in the spring.
