Rev. Gerald Klooster

Rev. Gerald G. Klooster, 52, of Central Lake, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born February 12, 1957, in Charlevoix, the son of Henry E. "Bud" and Rosa V. (Ross) Klooster. Rev. Gerald attended most of high school in Charlevoix. His senior year he went to Central Lake High School, graduating in 1975. He attended NCMC in Petoskey and obtained his Associate Degree in Applied Science. He worked for Lamina Bronze as a Team Leader for over 10 years and in corrections and marine patrol with the sheriff's office. After several years he received his Ministerial Degree from S.M.T.I. in Midland. He was the Pastor of Living Word North in Bellaire for the last 5 years. Rev. Gerald spent many years and most of his time ministering to those in need. He went on several mission trips over seas and did some prison ministry too. Rev. Gerald enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed boating and restoring old John Deere lawn tractors. On April 22, 1978, in Eastport, he married Patti Watson who survives. Also surviving are his children Bradly (Lynnsey) Klooster of Charlevoix, Daron (Brittani) Klooster of Traverse City, and Maricia Klooster of Traverse City; grandchildren Blake and Braydon Klooster of Charlevoix and Danea and Kaden Klooster of Traverse City, his parents Bud and Rosa Klooster of Eastport, his sisters Linda (Everett) Ingalls of East Jordan and Shelly Dorland of Torch Lake Village, and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his brothers Gary and Mike Klooster. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 20, 2009 at One p.m. at the Central Lake High School Gymnasium with Dr. Mark T. Barclay officiating. Interment will follow in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake Twp. The family will receive friends Friday, June 19, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
