Raymond Dixon, 82, of Charlevoix passed away on May 3, 2018 at his home.

Ray was born on December 22, 1935 in Charlevoix, the son of the late Curtis and Elizabeth (Sharrow) Dixon. He served in the United States Military for many years first in the United States Army then in the United States Coast Guard.  Following his service, he worked at Medusa Cement Plant for many years. Ray was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending his free time driving in his car, hunting, farming, being around animals and being the fun grandpa to his grandchildren.

Ray is survived by his children, Curtis Dixon, Gregg (Glenda) Dixon, Karen (Steven) Johnson, Ed Sarasin, Daniel Dixon all of Charlevoix; 6 grandchildren, Amanda (Christian), Katlynn (Nick), William, John, Makenna and Josh; 2 great grandchildren, Kagen and Quinn; 3 brothers, Maurice (Rosemary) Dixon, Louie (Bonnie) Dixon and Tommy Dixon and 2 sisters, Louise Wells and Mary Moore.

On January 23, 1960 in Quincy, MA Ray married Nancy O’Brien who preceded him in death on March 28, 2017. He was also preceded in death by his parents as well as his mother-in-law, Lillian O’Brien.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. also on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be directed to Munson Hospice.
