Randy Rowe, 76, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024 in Petoskey, Michigan, after a long battle with Parkinson’s.

He was born in South Africa while his father was there serving as a colonel in the United States Air Force. Due to being in a military family, Randy lived in many states including Virginia, Colorado and Hawaii, where he ended up graduating from high school. He went on to play college basketball as a walk on at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. After college, Randy joined the United States Army, where he served in the Vietnam War.

After leaving the Army, Randy became a master carpenter, a job which he loved. He also helped manage the Rowe Deer Farm in Bellaire, Michigan. After he retired, he worked at Cabela’s in Rapid City, South Dakota, where he enjoyed exchanging hunting and fishing stories with his customers. Randy loved the outdoors-hunting, fishing, taxidermy, photography and living in the Black Hills were amongst his favorites. He was an advocate for wildlife conservation and was an active member of The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Randy is survived by his son Andrew (Jennifer) Rowe and his grandsons, Austin and Brayden Rowe, of Charlevoix, MI as well as his stepchildren; Jack Adams of Chillicothe, OH, Chris Adams of Fredericksburg, VA and Gwen Tyre of Blackshear, GA. He also leaves behind his brothers; Stephen “Pete” (Patti) Rowe of Rockford, MI and Philip (Laura) Rowe of St. Peters, MO, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son Matthew Gabriel Rowe, his parents Colonel Everett “Cappy” Rowe and Wilma “Skeeter” Rowe, and his sister Candace “Candy” Morgan.

Randy’s family has chosen to celebrate his life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation in his name.
