Randall Papp

Randall Papp, 72 of Bellaire, passed away January 23, 2021 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.  He was born November 28, 1948 in the City of Detroit, the son of Dr. Edward and Jean (Hull) Papp of Prescott, MI. Randy grew up helping his father attend to the health of the people of Ogemaw and Oscoda counties.  Randy graduated from Prescott High, and then attended Alma College as an undergraduate studying his love, English Literature.  Later Randy, moved to Indiana to finish his Master’s at Purdue with his new wife, Janice (Innis) Papp.

Randy began his career in teaching in Indiana.  He taught both English Language Arts and Industrial Arts prior to moving to Michigan and starting anew as a Funeral Director.

A long-time resident of Northern Michigan, Randy was a Funeral Director in Elk Rapids for many years.  Afterward, he was a beloved member of the Central Lake community running the Korner Store for over a decade.  He finished out his career doing what he loved best, teaching. Randy ran The MidTown Alternative School for another decade before retiring to spend his winters in California near his sons in the Palm Springs area.

Randy was preceded in death by his son, Richard Papp, daughter-in-law Tammy (Hubbell) Papp and father Edward Papp.  Left to celebrate Randy’s life are his soulmate and wife of 50 years, Janice (Innis) Papp, his mother Jean Papp, his son Heath Papp, his daughter-in-law, Kathi Papp, his grandchildren Dallas Bessette and Shelby (Bessette) Moffitt, and his great grandchildren Brycen Papp and Cameron Moffitt.
