Ralph Raymond "Ray" Reim, 102, passed away peacefully on his 79th wedding anniversary on July 1, 2018, at the Heritage Haus in Bellaire.


He was born on Nov. 29, 1915 in Elkhart, Indiana, to the late Max Reim and Carrie Wiser.


He graduated from Elkhart High School in 1934. He had a long standing career at Dodge Manufacturing Corporation in Mishawaka, Indiana for 37 1/2 years, which included being superintendent of the Foundry. He was part of several professional organizations including, board member of the National Board of Directors of the Gray and Ductile Iron Society and
Michigan American Foundry Association, and president of Taperlock Credit Union in Mishawaka. He also went on to run and own a sporting goods store in Goshen, Indiana during his time at Dodge. Ray has always held a passion for sporting activities including boating, fishing, hunting, and golf that he carried through his entire life. He also had a passion for civil service
inclusive of his participation as a life member of the Elks Lodge, the Masonic Lodge, the Shriners, and various other organizations. Ray was also a member the United Methodist Church.


For retirement he moved to Fort Myers, Florida in 1978 and lived there for 30 years. He then moved to Traverse City to be closer to his daughter, and was a resident there for 7
years, to eventually move to Bellaire for 2 years with his daughter. He lived the past year at the Heritage Haus in Bellaire.


Ray is survived by his by wife of 79 years, Eloise (Burkholder) Reim, age 99. He is also survived by his three children, Marcia (John) Copeland, of Bellaire, Kenneth (Kathy) Reim, of St. Augustine, Florida, and Tom Reim, of South Bend, Indiana; five grandchildren, Kevin (Melissa) Reim, Karyn Reim, Kristin Reim, Erin Reim, Nicole (Bernie) Ballesteros; and two great grandchildren, Sienna Reim and Madison Reim.


He was predeceased by his parents, and sister and brother, Faye Phillips and Max Reim.


He had been asked frequently "How has he managed to live this long?" in which his common response was "wild women and good booze." His fun loving nature was his signature. He was well loved by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Ray will be laid to rest in Fort Myers, Florida. No services will be held.
