Richard "Dale" Williamson, 76 of Bellaire, died peacefully, Thurs. Oct. 13, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 14, 1935 in Stoddard County, Missouri, the son of Herma Barker. At 15 yrs of age Dale joined the U.S. Army. Two years later upon learning that he was so young he was asked to leave but walked across the street and joined the U.S. Navy. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 yrs of proudly serving his country. Dale worked as a heavy equipment operator for Stan's Excavating and Kitchen Farms. He was a known locksmith and like to garden. He also enjoyed coin and stamp collecting. Dale was a member of the Bellaire Masonic Lodge. On Apr. 27, 1963, in Berkeley, South Carolina, he married Iris Dawn Tyler who survives. Also surviving are his children Paula Lynn of Missouri, Ruth (Mark) Walton, Brian Sha Williamson and Lissa (Mike) Sizen all of Bellaire, 10 grandchilren, 1 great grandchild with one on the way, and brothers Ray (Mary) Williamson and Gary (Karla) Williamson, sister Joyce Goforth all of Flint. He was preceded in death by his mother, 2 brothers Norman and Lee, and an infant sister Faye. Please join us in a gathering of friends and family, Fri. Oct. 28th from 6 to 9 p.m. at Kearney Twp. Hall, casual dress is preferred. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Williamson family in care of Lissa Sizen.
