Phyllis Windiate

Phyllis R. Windiate, 93, of Torch Lake Township passed away on February 1, 2018 at her home.

Phyllis was born on November 22, 1924 in Avon, Ohio to the late Sherman and Wilma (Barrett) Vedder.

She lived in Olivet, MI for many years while spending her summers on Torch Lake. Phyllis finally moved to Torch Lake full time in 2001. She was active in the First Congregational Church and their many organizations in Olivet. Phyllis enjoyed her animals especially her cats and reading.

Phyllis is survived by her children, John Windiate and Kathy Windiate both of Torch Lake Twp; grandson Ciehl Windiate of Torch Lake Twp; brothers, Tom Vedder of Grand Blanc, MI, Richard “Dick” (Annette) Vedder of Harrison; sister, Jane Jones of Pittsburg, PA and 9 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and father of her children, Jack Windiate and special friend, Jack Mate.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 5, 2018 at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Bekkering officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be held in Spring 2018 at Lakeview Cemetery in Torch Lake Township.
