Phyllis McQueen

Phyllis Jane McQueen, 78, of Bellaire, died Monday, August 10, 2009 at the home of Bill and Lisa McQueen in Harbor Springs, MI. She was born to Audrey and Glen Flaugher of Weidman, MI on June 7, 1931. Phyllis married Arthur McQueen on June 24, 1950 in Mt. Pleasant. Upon her graduation from Central Michigan University in 1967, Phyllis received her degree in nursing. In a rare and precious journey after profound personal tragedy, she dedicated her life to serving others in their times of greatest need. Phyllis served on staff with Central Michigan Community Hospital, in the private practice of Dr. Daniel Dean, for the Antrim County Ambulance Corps and with Meadow Brook Care Facility in Bellaire. Always ready to help, always ready to give and always ready to comfort, Phyllis touched countless lives through her passion to serve. Her deepest calling was in her role of mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Surviving Phyllis are her children Bill (Lisa) McQueen of Harbor Springs, Roger McQueen of Bellaire, Carolyn Bryan of Bellaire, and Donala (Loren) Richards of Mancelona her grandchildren, Brandon, Ryan, Misty, Roger, James, Josh and William; siblings Gloriana Bushong of Ishpeming and Noel Flaugher of Alma, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her siblings Pauline, Arnold, Thurman, Bill, Arlene, Don and Roger. Phyllis has now joined Arthur and their children Glen, Sharon, Chuck, Susan and Karen. They will be remembered in love. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
