Phyllis Fortney

Phyllis "Penny" Fortney, 73, of Mancelona, passed away on March 29, 2015 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. Penny was born on September 23, 1941, in Detroit, the daughter of Ray and Dorothay (Green) Pfouts. Penny owned and operated Penny's Place used furniture in Mancelona from 2002-2007 and enjoyed yardsaling, crocheting, bingo, fishing, car shows and especially going on car cruises with her husband Ken. On Nov. 12, 2001 she married Kenneth Fortney who survives. Also surviving are 2 sons, George Bergland of Alpena, Mark Bergland of Detroit, a sister Diane Wells of Tawas City, and a brother John Phouts of Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her parents. Penny will be buried at a later date in the Pioneer Cemetery, Grant Township, MI, alongside her parents. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
