Phyllis Caroline (Thier) Armould passed away surrounded by her children and sister on April 15, 2024 at the age of 86 after bravely battling a long hard fight with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on September 25, 1937, in Petoskey, Michigan. Daughter of parents LeRoy C. Thier (1904-1976) and Violet E. (Stolt) Thier (1905-1999). Sister of Karen (Thier) Scadin, Alan Thier (1939-2010), Gene Thier, and Dennis Thier.
She is survived by her loving daughter Leslie (Armould) Joyce (husband John and their children Peyton, Piper, and Declan) and son Bradley Armould (wife Bobbi and their children Patrick and Colin).
Phyllis was raised and lived most of her life in Central Lake, Michigan. A beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and dear friend — she attended Central Michigan University, served in the U.S. Navy, and held long-standing leadership and support roles within her community. Phyllis’s deep love for family and nature, her kindness, sense of humor, generosity, and unending willingness and capacity to lend a hand was known by all who knew her.
Above all, Phyllis loved and adored her children and grandchildren more than anything.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 16th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 17 at 9 a.m. also at the Funeral Home with graveside military honors at Southern Cemetery, immediately following.
