Phillip “Dan” Farmer, age 81 of Charlevoix passed away on October 16, 2017, surrounded by his family.
Dan was born on July 30, 1936 in Charlevoix to the late Richard and Catherine (Bogart) Farmer.
Dan was a very talented mechanic in his early working years. He worked at American Mold before working in the maintenance department at the Weathervane. He enjoyed spending his time hunting, ice fishing, woodworking and repairing wood furniture. He made a wood ice boat which he sailed with his sons. He restored and fixed up an antique pedal bike as well as a 1966 Mustang from the ground up.
On March 22, 1958 in Charlevoix Dan married Janice Cunningham who survives. Also surviving are children, Dwayne (Laura) Farmer, David Farmer, Darrin (Carol) Farmer all of Charlevoix, grandchildren, Justin (Alyssa Sexton) Farmer, Jordan (Alexis) Farmer, Brooke (Cam) Canupp, Brandon Farmer, Bree Farmer, Veronica Woodyard, Jamie Thacker, great grandchildren, Brynlee, Addison, Bryce and Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brothers-in-law, Woody Woodbury, Dale Matthews and sister-in-law, Kay Matthews Themm.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday October 21, 2017 at the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of services also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of your choice.
