Philip E. Lundy, 68, of Torch Lake Township, died peacefully at his home after a long illness. Throughout the years of his debilitating illness he has enjoyed the music of his grandchildren's laughter and the devotion of his wife, mother, sister, children, family and friends. If you asked him if he was worried or fearful his response was always, "No." Phil was born September 13, 1939, the son of Edward and Irene (Furrier) Lundy. He graduated from Central Lake High and attended Central Michigan University. Phil's career involved many sales positions. Phil was broker/owner of Statewide Real Estate in Eastport. He was well known by clients and friends for his firm handshake. He was a man of integrity. He would tell you "like it is". He was an honest forthright person who still lived in the old concept that "a man is as good as his word". He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Central Lake and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Torch Lake Village. Phil met Char in Ft. Wayne, Indiana on a blind date. They met in June of 1966, were engaged in August and married January 7, 1967. It was a marriage of love and joy raising their children and having the best blessing of all... ... ..grandchildren. The ups and downs were always neutralized by the love and commitment they shared. Phil convinced city girl Char to move to Eastport to assume leadership of the family real estate business. They built a home in Torch Lake Village and the"up north country" is where they always wanted to stay. Phil was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, pool player. He always had a German shorthair dog and carefully trained his dogs for pheasant hunting. He and son Erik had good times on those hunting trips. Whatever he did he wanted to be best in. He enjoyed the casino convinced the bells of winning would ring one day. He loved to fix things and be outside riding one of his tractors. The Lundy household is an open door always for everyone. Phil is survived by his wife of 40 years, Char, and four children and their children. Daughter Patty Lynn (Robert) Boyd of The Villages and their sons; Joseph Paul Kauska (Krysta) and daughter Madison Charlotte Ann, Robert Taylor, and Trevor Philip. Son Erik Lundy and his special person Maxine Goretski. Daughter Heidi Ann (Dean) Olesko and children Sawyer Dean, Case Philip, and Lundy Ann. Wendi Irene (Travis) Disbrow and children Halli Elizabeth, Quinn Mariana, and Braden Travis. He is also survived by his beloved mother Irene and his only sister Nancy (Robert) Klinske, and his brother in law and sister in law Franz and Helen Pussel. His nieces and nephews were also a big part of his life, Julia, Todd, Anne, and Thomas as well as great nieces and nephews Alicia, Morgan, Kendra, Jenna, Kazimir, and Fiona. He was preceded in death by his father Edward in 1995 and first wife Judy in 1965.
