Peter D. Stephenson, 59, of Rapid City, passed away on January 15, 2015 at Munson Medical Center. Pete was born on August 23, 1955, in Flint, the son of Clair "Douglas" and Patricia (McGovern) Stephenson. Pete was a graduate of Flushing High School then went on to Culinary School in Wisconsin. Pete was a longtime Rapid City resident and owned and operated the Country Kitchen in Alden for many years. He was a very thoughtful, generous man with a great personality and sense of humor. While running his restaurant, he would provide free meals for any people in need as well as veterans. He also was instrumental in fundraising for the Alden fireworks and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gambling. He is survived by 4 children, Alyssa Stephenson of Alden, Jessica Stephenson of Traverse City, Kelsey Stephenson of Traverse City, Michael Stephenson of Rapid City, his mother Patricia Stephenson of Elk Rapids, two sisters, Lynn Black of Flint, Sharon (Jim) Deater of Rapid City, two grandchildren Evan and Jason as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Clair "Douglas" Stephenson and two brothers Gary and Scott Stephenson. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, January 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with visitation from noon until the time of services. Burial, alongside his family will take place on Wednesday, January 21 at 1:00 p.m. at the Flushing Cemetery, Flushing, MI.
