Paul J. DiNofrio, 92 of Bellaire, died peacefully, Thurs. Feb. 22, 2018 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. He was born Mar. 15, 1925 in Norristown, PA, the son of Carmen and Teresa (Sylvester) DiNofrio.
Paul proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII on the USS Sanders D.E. He earned 4 stars capturing Eniwetok Atoll and Saipan and in supporting Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Paul was a lifelong Mason and member of the Bellaire Masonic Lodge #398. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and playing golf. He also enjoyed making maple syrup, stacking wood, and tinkering in PJ’s garage. Paul was known for his musical talent, playing harmonica, accordion, and trumpet.
Surviving Paul are his children Paula (Terry Ryan) DiNofrio of Bellaire, Cynthia (Alan) DiNofrio Hickman of Bellaire, Sandra (Dean) Wade of Temecula, CA, his brother John DiNofrio of Linwood, NJ, sister Ann (Louis) Petrie of Moorestown, NJ, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Brenda Ryan, his parents, 2 brothers Phillip and Joseph Dinofrio, 2 sisters Rose Clark and Mary Townsend, niece Diane DiPiazza, nephews Gary DiNofrio, Robert Leibman, Kevin Townsend , nephew and godson Robert Clark, , and former wife and mother of his children Marvelle DiNofrio.
A Masonic service will be held Wed. Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. also at the funeral home. Graveside services with military honors will be held in Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire, in the spring.
